Taken December 19, 2005 in Celebration, Florida.

In the old days, communities used to have a "Nabe": a neighbourhood cinema. In this day of megaplexes (of which AMC is surely a major contributor), it was nice to go to a town where you could see a monster hit like King Kong in a smallish, two-screen theater (sic). With stadium seating and self-serve buttery topping, of course.

Me So Hornet!

Taken November 7, 2005 on Pond Drive, Markham.

Sometimes nature stills its subjects for those of us who want to examine their beauty without fear of their face puffing up to three times its original size. Posted by Picasa

Scratching Post

Taken Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the top of Woodfield Road, Toronto.

This beautiful feline was quite the ham for my camera this blustry morning. Nice to see her using nature's scratching post instead of her owner's couch. Posted by Picasa

Taken Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the north end of Highfield Road, Toronto.

Hey buddy, wanna buy a 1996 Ford Contour? It's loaded with features, not the least of which are:

Unique tail lamps - Standard
Cool Windshield - Standard
Original Miles, er kilometers - heck, nobody else'll put any on 'er!
(Freeze-dried) Pet Friendly!
Fresh Paint!
Act now before she's towed away FOREVER!

Lonesome Cowboy Kurt

Taken October 2, 2005 in the Kurt's basement, Toronto.

Kurt and I have been pals for nearly 20 years. We met at Ryerson as two disillusioned "rude boy" punks. Of course, he was an old man at 21 and I was still wet-behind-the-ears at 19. We've since doubled our ages, and have been close ever since. As you can tell, this "punk" has moved along (little doggy) to country AND western music (gotta have both, dontchaknow), and the night we went to see Corb Lund (see below), I decided to give this little cowpunk a shot at, well, being shot.

Corb Lund

Taken October 2, 2005 at the Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto.

Corb Lund (and his Hurtin' Albertans) is probably the best country artist this millenium. OK, the millenium's fairly new, but this guy is wonderful! Well, as wonderful as a country guy can get. To achieve such distinction, the music needs to tell a story, and the teller has to have a unique style. Corb has it in spades. This pic was taken during his set at the Horseshoe, and the blurs made for an interesting (and thoroughly unintenional) effect. Posted by Picasa

Early Spring

Taken Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Canada Blooms floral show, Toronto.

To me, looking at flowers is as exciting as trying on gloves (I LOVE that expression). However, yesterday I managed to enjoy the challenges tossed to me by beds upon beds of flora, along with the crappy lighting that indoor exhibitions tend to have, this one being no exception. Here are a few examples of what caught my eye. Posted by Picasa

Taken October 30, 2005 on St. Clarens Avenue, Toronto.

No visit to my parents' place would be complete without seeing Rocky, their neighbours' Jack Russell terrier. The poor bugger's been hit by a car, but he still yaps as loudly as any other...little...annoying...(but cute)...mutt. Posted by Picasa

Nothing On

Taken March 3, 2006 on Woodfield Road, Toronto.

For about a month, I would walk to the 506 streetcar, and step on/over/around this dial plate from an old television. I've seen it buried in snow, frozen in ice, and as seen here, in plain view. A day after taking the picture, the plate was finally, properly, disposed of. Posted by Picasa

Next Train

Taken February 26, 2006 at Kipling Subway Station, Toronto.

Somehow the dated 1980 design of this rather ugly station manages to appear almost presentable when shown in black and white. Posted by Picasa

A Place For My Stuff

Now, I dunno about you, but I've got a messy front yard. Weeds, snow, blowing trash occasionally. OK, I haven't taken down my Christmas lights either, so sue me. Then there's THIS guy.....
Taken October 8, 2005 on Montrose Road, Niagara Falls, Ontario. Posted by Picasa

I guess I should still take the lights down.....

Under the Bridge

Taken June 20, 2003, beneath an abandoned Toronto and Nipissing Railway trestle, Uxbridge, Ontario.

This was part of a series of shots I took in Uxbridge showing parts of the abandoned Toronto and Nipissing Railroad. Portions of this line are still active, mostly by GO Transit between Toronto and Stouffville, with weekend excursion trains operated between Stouffville and Uxbridge by the York Simcoe Heritage Railway. Above this bridge, however, the tracks have been removed and a hiking trail put in its place. Posted by Picasa

Taken December 23rd, 2003 on Elgin Street, Ottawa.

An interesting view of The Hill from just down the road. As if the heads inside Parliament weren't foggy enough... Posted by Picasa
