The Sandwich Generation

No...not the folks who have to care for aging parents and children, no no no. I'm talking about people who get stuck behind a stopped car, only to be rear-ended by some speeding jerk who isn't paying any attention to where they're driving.

The result?

Zippy in his new 2007 VW Rabbit didn't see the folks stopped in front of him, soooo....into me he crashes, causing me to ram the Honda Accord in front of me.

The Honda was then pushed into an SUV in front of it, causing relatively minor cosmetic damage. Our car ended up looking like this:

The hood and the trunk were both bent, the rear bumper was knocked loose, the underside of the trunk buckled inward, forcing the spare tire to jut out from beneath the trunk's carpet.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt, although we'll be getting checked out by our doctor over the next couple of days. The car, on the other hand, looks like a write-off. Eight years of good driving, by-the-book servicing, and generally decent treatment, gone in the second it took for a careless, young, glib, male driver to take his eyes off the road.

Thanks, dude.

Signs of the Apocalypse

OK more post on the end of Sam's. This one's a tribute to the signage...

Photos taken outside 347 Yonge Street, where yes, the bus still stops, on Saturday, June 30th, 2007.
