St. Clair West Station

In honour of the opening of the long-delayed, much-ballyhooed, way-overpriced St. Clair West streetcar right-of-way, here's a look at a connecting route which hasn't been used for nearly 30 years.

The former St. Clair Avenue CN station was a stop on the Super Continental and Northlander route, which headed north toward Barrie then along the western shore of Lake Simcoe towards Orillia. The second track used for the station has been torn up and the only service using the tracks currently is the weekday Toronto to Barrie GO train, which currently doesn't stop at St. Clair.

Given the proximity to the city's newest "rapid" transit line, there is some talk of resurrecting the stop at some point in the future.
