Winter Park Amtrak Station 1962-2014

On June 2, 2014, the 52 year-old Amtrak Station in downtown Winter Park, Florida succumbed to the gleeful whims of a town bent on remaining the most beautiful of them all (in Central Florida at least). The recently-completed SunRail commuter station, which uses the same platforms, has provided for a new station, shared between the two rail authorities. This meant that the building which locals considered ugly and cramped (but I considered rather charming), had to go. As a result, politicians were given sledgehammers and loaders were given instructions to tear down the station, which is to be replaced by a grassy knoll.

A story about the station's final day from the Orlando Sentinel can be found here.

Photos taken near the corner of W Morse Blvd and Park Avenue, Winter Park, FL between 2005 and 2012.
